The BOI Have Finally Arrested Some Foreigners
Immigration nabs Sokor, US fugitives
A South Korean fugitive who earned a whopping $17.7 million from a prostitution racket and an American fugitive were arrested in separate operations in Taguig City and Bohol, respectively.
The South Korean, identified as Park Seonghyeokon, is wanted for cyber prostitution and was arrested at his condominium residence in Taguig City.
South Korean authorities who sought the Bureau of Immigration’s help in locating the fugitive said Park is subject of an arrest warrant issued by the Daejeon district court.
His passport has been reportedly revoked, and a red notice was likewise issued against him by Interpol.
Park was charged for violating his country’s law that penalizes a person who arranges commercial sex acts.
In June 2014, Park and his accomplices allegedly created a website that advertised the pictures and profiles of sex workers, including the price that customers would pay in exchange for sexual services.
The suspects allegedly catered to advertisements of more than two thousand brothels.
Authorities placed at more than 21 billion won or more than $17.7 million the profits earned by Park and his accomplices from the prostitution racket.
On the other hand, the American fugitive, identified as Paul Franklin Guzock, was nabbed in Dauis, Bohol.
Guzock was arrested on the strength of a mission order issued by BI Commissioner Jaime Morente.
“The BI was recently informed by our American counterparts that he is a wanted criminal in the US. His passport has already been revoked by his government, making him an undocumented alien,” Morente said.
Records showed Guzock has a standing warrant of arrest issued by the US District Court of the Western District of New York in 2019 for violation of supervised release.
Morente said that Guzock and Park will be deported for being undesirable and undocumented aliens.
“They will be included in our Immigration blacklist to prevent them from returning to the Philippines,” he added.
